Laura is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor. who earned her Master of Arts degree in Psychology from Antioch University in Seattle, WA. Laura is also a Certified Clinical Anxiety Treatment Professional, Certified Clinical Telemental Health Provider and certified in EMDR therapy.
Laura has extensive education in treating trauma and works with individuals and families who have a variety of problems: painful relationships, impaired self-esteem, trauma related symptoms, acting out behaviors, and general feelings of unhappiness and or anxiety. She respects her clients’ competencies and invite full participation in the healing process.
Laura’s counseling approach is based on several different theories. These theories are EMDR, Cognitive Behavioral, and Family Systems. Therapies may include analyzing the dynamics within the family system and the roles people play within the family. These processes can and often do release a host of feelings such as anger, guilt, sadness, and fear. These reactions are usually temporary, and one should expect to experience mixed feelings as part of the therapy process. Laura may use a variety of different techniques based on these theories and will rely on feedback to know if a certain technique is helpful.

Therapy Approaches
Psychotherapy, also referred to as talk therapy, psycho-social therapy, counseling, or, simply, therapy, is the primary method for treating mental health problems by talking with a mental health provider. The goal is the help an individual better understand their mental health and teach strategies and tools that manage unhealthy thoughts and behaviors.
While there are many approaches to psychotherapy, there is no single approach that works for everyone. A therapist may use a blended approach, sampling techniques from several different types of psychotherapy. The kind of psychotherapy a person receives depends on his or her own unique needs.
Below are some of the types of psychotherapy Laura utilizes.
- Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
- Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR)
- Family Systems
